Personal Development Planning

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat for days and weeks trying to figure out what to do next in my life. My friends can tell you I’ve called them over and over again with the choices and decisions I’ve seen before me – desperate to make a decision. Throughout all these hard times I’ve designed a few very efficient techniques that I want to share with you.

The Benefits of a Personal Development Plan

What are the benefits of a personal development plan? For me, it’s a process of getting to know myself. I treat it like a creative process where I’m designing an art piece. The art piece is my life. So, I take this process very seriously – in a lighthearted kinda focused way.

While some people feel like they have no choice about their life – YOU, can make a personal development plan and be the DRIVER OF YOUR LIFE. You can create it.

That’s the amazing benefit of creating a personal development plan.

Steps to the Perfect Personal Development Plan

Not all personal development plans lead to self-improvement. That’s where newbies get it wrong. They start designing a personal development plan of their goals and dreams, but they forget to include the self development aspects. There’s a wise old saying that if, “You keep doing the same thing over and over again you’ll get the same result.” Therefore, it’s absolutely vital that you consider your personality traits, thoughts, beliefs, attitudes and sabotaging patterns when you develop a personal development plan.

Personal Development Planning

Okay, so how do you start? Well, the first place I start is by brainstorming exactly what I want in life. If you can’t see where you’re going you can’t plan the journey, right! So, take an hour, a week or even a few months to think about what you want. What will make happy and satisfied in life? What will give you the excitement to get out of bed in the morning and greet your day? What will make your heart sing? Write it down, and then write it down again with more detail. You should be able to feel it come alive in your final copy…literally invoking uplifting positivity feelings.

Next, you consider everything you have and don’t have. This will give you an idea of what actions to take. Once you have all your brainstorming done you can plan your steps. Personal Development Planning can either be a comprehensive process that delves into thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and what’s around you OR it can be a quick throw together steps that don’t really lead any where or have much purpose at all, but secretly satisfies the person… who just goes in circles in life.

“Carmen was instrumental in concreting for me the themes in my life. Her process helped me identify those areas in my life that I wish to focus on. They also clarified those which were holding me back. So from now on, I will not live a life based on being a “victim” of circumstances. I choose to create a fun life filled with writing, photography and travel, and share that with my children.” Katische Haberfield
